Carol Gleeson: Carol is the Project Manager. She comes from Coore, Milltown Malbay and has many years of experience in the management of projects such as a conservation and recording project in Bunratty Folk Park, archaeological excavations in Ireland and Israel, heritage planning and development for the community run Carlingford Lough Heritage Trust, setting up and curating the local authority County Museum, Dundalk, the development and installation of several visitor centre and museum exhibitions and numerous research studies for the Heritage Council. She has a BA in History & Archaeology, a H.Dip in Heritage Management and an MA in Museum Studies. Contact cgleeson@burren.ie
Edel Hayes: Edel joined the team in July 2008 as IT and Communications Officer and is responsible for the upkeep and updating of the Information and Education programmes, for IT and administrative support and in the development of the Research and Ecotourism elements of the project as well as the communication and PR for the project. She comes from Croagh, Co. Limerick and has also worked in the IT and marketing sector for five years and holds a BA in Economics and History as well as H.Dip in Business Studies.
Dr. Ronán Hennessy: Ronán joined the Burren Connect Project team in November 2009, taking on the role of Geopark Geologist in the application programme for UNESCO Geopark status for the Burren. As Geopark Geologist, Ronán is also developing and running a geo-education programme, the aim of which is to raise awareness of the rich geological heritage of the Burren region in schools, visitor centres and with locals businesses. This programme is also being run in conjunction with the NEED (Northern Environmental Education) Project. Ronán was involved in the Burren Landscape and Settlement Project (INSTAR) with the Department of Archaeology at NUI Galway in 2008, and has worked on various landscape heritage projects with the Galway County Council Forum since 2004. A graduate of NUI Galway and NUI Maynooth, Ronán’s Doctoral Degree focused on Connemara and the use of digital visualisation and multimedia technologies for geo-education.
