The Burren - An Interactive information CD-ROM
On 15th December 2008 Declan Kelleher, President of the Irish National Teachers Organisation and Principal of Corofin NS launched the Burren Connect Interactive Information CD Rom
The Burren Connect Interactive Information CD Rom uses photographs, text, voice-over and a quiz to impart information on the Burren in an enjoyable and accessible way. The information is in 5 sections; Geology & Landscape, Archaeology & History, Flora & Fauna, Agriculture & Land Use and Culture & Community.
The aim of this project is to provide a useful source of interesting information for schools and educational groups and for business people in the Burren. It is designed to answer frequently asked questions about the Burren such as how it was formed, why it is famous for its flowers and archaeology, why farming is so important in the shaping of the Burren and how the distinctive local culture has developed. Each section consists of an introduction, 10 interesting `facts' and a quiz with a random selection of questions to test if you have been paying attention! Each question is scored and you can have fun competing with friends, family, classmates, teachers and guests on your knowledge of the Burren.
