About Lisdoonvarna
Lisdoonvarna is Irelands only Spa town. It lies on the southern edge of the Burren and became a popular health resort in the early nineteenth century thanks largely to its famous spa wells.
The Spa’s therapeutic mineral waters contain magnesia, iodine and iron. It is famous also for its September festival - one of Europe’s largest singles matchmaking festivals. It is an excellent base for exploring the Burren and sampling the famous music and craic of North Clare. It is also home to the Burren Smokehouse as well as numerous hotels and pubs.

The Burren Smokehouse
Description
The Burren Smokehouse in Lisdoonvarna offers a unique experience to visitors: you can watch a short video about the smoking process (free of charge), look at the original first kiln we used and run your hands through the oak shavings used for smoking our salmon. You can taste and buy our Irish organic smoked salmon, smoked mackerel and other smoked products like cheese. Also, we have a wide range of high-quality gifts and presents, all made in Ireland or even locally. For opening hours, please refer to our website. We also welcome tour groups into our visitor centre - bookings are required.

Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival 29 August 2010 - 04 October 2010
Description
Located in the Spa town of Lisdoonvama, with its Spa wells Health centre and the only working Spa in Ireland, the sulphur baths, famous for their therapeutic treatments are an excellent way to relax after the rigours of the matchmaking festival. All hotels and bars have music and dancing daily. Romance and craic are to be had in abundance. Why not meet the matchmaker Willie Daly in the Matchmaker Bar at the Imperial Hotel during the actual Matchmaking Festival.
The biggest 'singles' event in Europe and one of the oldest festivals in Ireland. The festival is concentrated on the weekends but there is also music and dancing during the week.

Spa Wells Health Centre is famous for it's therapeutic mineral waters offering you the chance to refresh, rejuvenate and come away stress free. The centre offers therapeutic treatments and sulphur baths. For those of you that don't want to fully detox there is a coffee shop present onsite. The sulphur which is illuminated may be viewed in the Victorian pump house.

Wild Honey Inn

Wild Honey is owned and run by the McGrath family. Formerly Kincora House it was renamed and refurbished in 2009, we have achieved a blend of contemporary and traditional, in the unique setting of the Burren region.

Dining is an essential part of your stay at Sheedys. We offer an A La Carte dinner menu in our small, informal Restaurant. We also offer a menu in our Bar each evening. John's cooking has been awarded 2 Rosettes for food from the AA's for the last 9 years. His cooking was also awarded "Best Breakfast in Munster 2004" from Georgina Campbell Guide. All dishes are freshly cooked to order and John sources as many ingredients as possible from local artisan suppliers. We grow a variety of vegetables and herbs in our Potager Garden. Our Restaurant is recommended by the Good Food Guide, Good Hotel Guide, Foders and Michelin. The New York Times, in an article on The Burren said "I had an entree of Black Sole so exquisite, I wonder if I'll ever eat fish again".

The Roadside Tavern
Description
The Roadside Tavern serves the finest of Stouts, Ales, Wines and Spirits. The award-winning food menu is filled with delicious dishes such as traditional Irish bacon, Cabbage and Parsley sauce and a slightly less traditional rendition of Irish stew (featuring local Burren beef in place of the more typical lamb). Pride of place is given to several dishes featuring Smoked Fish and Eel from the family's award-winning Burren Smokehouse. Try the Burren smoked fish platter which is served with organic leaves from nearby New Quay. The Burren Smokehouse is literally over the bridge and well worth a visit.
It has a particular draw for the musicians of the region; at its summer peak, there is live music seven nights a week. The Roadside Tavern has been a legendary venue for traditional music for well over a 100 years. Many well known names have entertained the patrons of the Roadside down through the years to the present. They include Christy Moore, Davy Spillane, Tommy Peoples, the Fureys, Seán Tyrrell, Christy Barry, Micko Russel, Mickaleen Conlon, Paul Dooley, Sharon Shannon and many many more.
The Roadside Tavern has been run by the Curtin Family since 1893 making it one of the oldest pubs in the Burren area. The current proprietary is Peter Curtin who continues the high standards of hospitality and service set by his ancestors.
