1. Ecotourism
The Burren Ecotourism Network was officially launched by Darina Allen on 3rd March in Gregans Castle Hotel, Balllyvaughan. Over the last few years, a group of eighteen dedicated tourism businesses have been going through a rigorous training and assessment programme to be certified as one of only two ecotourism destinations in Ireland. Their vision is that establishing ecotourism in the Burren will ensure the sustainable development of its communities, environment and heritage.

2. Geo- Education
The NEED Geo-education Publications & Learning/Tourism Resources include a 64 page A5 Illustrated Booklet on the Geology of the Burren, a 36 page A4 Scientific Guide to the Geology of the Burren, the 2nd Edition Z-Card map & information brochure on Geosites & GeoNEED learning environments, Large Map/Information Panels (indoor) for Burren visitor & education centres, Schools & visitor centres Education Pack: (includes Teachers Information Booklet – introduction & instructions on tasks/activities, Information Sheets Series and Students Worksheets Series), Schools Rocks of the Burren pack (rocks samples, HCl drop bottles & Magnifying Glass) and GIS/Google Earth maps available for download on the www.GeoNEED.org website as well as on this site.
